Immunohistochemistry studies on tissue micro-arrays revealed that human granulosa cell tumors of the ovary express different receptors for estradiol (E2), i.e., G protein-coupled estrogen receptor (GPER), and estrogen receptors α (ERα) and β (ERβ). Our studies1 suggest that these receptors play distinct roles in this pathogenesis, with GPER repressing the migration of metastatic granulosa cells and ERα and ERβ promoting their proliferation and survival.
